Abstract: This page outlines crankshaft sealing flange replacement procedure. Flange installation requires a special Volkswagen tool (press tool no. T10134 tool) to properly press on the rear main seal.and index the crankshaft sensor wheel to the crankshaft TDC position.
The crankshaft sealing flange includes the crankshaft rear main PTFE-seal and the crankshaft position sensor wheel as an assembly. Incorrect installation of the flange (with seal and sensor wheel) will result in a no-start condition, and an ECM error code(s) (improbable engine speed sensor signal). Oil pan removal is also required as part of this repair procedure.
Read the procedure through to determine what parts and supplies are required before beginning.
