Bentley Publishers is proud to announce that Ferdinand Porsche - Genesis of Genius by Karl Ludvigsen has won the Nicholas-Joseph Cugnot Award for 2009. Presented annually by the Society of Automotive Historians in recognition of outstanding writing and original research, the Cugnot Award is given to the best automotive history book published in the previous calendar year.
"Fortunately for all of us who are interested in the history of cars and the people who make them, books on the subject are getting increasingly comprehensive and professional," Ludvigsen remarked in response to receiving the award. "I'm gratified that Genesis has been able to stand out against
steadily tougher competition."
Bentley Publishers president Michael Bentley was equally appreciative of the award. "We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work with Karl Ludvigsen and with Ernst Piëch on a project that would showcase the impressive early achievements of a true pioneer in automotive engineering," he said in his acceptance remarks. "It is with deepest gratitude that Bentley Publishers thanks the Society of Automotive Historians for acknowledging the merit of this project, and for sharing our belief that exceptional books are vital keys to our past and our future."
This is the fifth prestigious award for Ferdinand Porsche - Genesis of Genius. Ludvigsen's book has already won three International Automotive Media Awards, including 2008 Best of the Year, 2008 Best of Books and Best Design of 2008, as well as the 2008 Mercedes-Benz Montagu of Beaulieu Award awarded by the Guild of Motoring Writers. Checking the oil periodically will extend the life of your supercharger. Indepedent MINI service shops state they check it every 45-60k miles.
